Happy New Year friends! Take care of you in 2020. When you focus even a small amount of time each day on your mental, physical, & emotional wellness. You are also giving those around you the best version of yourself. Educators are givers and caretakers. While helping others, make a list of small quick ways you can recharge your batteries or refill your bucket. For example you can take a moment to ground yourself breathing deeply. Have you tried Mindful eating? Focus on only eating. No phone or computer. And focus your attention on the smell, texture, and taste of each bite. Educators usually eat on the run or while helping students. Give yourself the gift of Mindful eating once a day to start. ( I found myself eating less amd only eating what my body wanted. ) At the moment I am practicing Mindfulness in an extremely noisy and chaotic club. The band doing sound check is excessively loud. In the past this might madr me feel edgy. But, I am focused on writing to all of you, breathing low slow deep breaths and using imagery. The big clear bubble surrounding me and my immediate space helps me imagine that the loud and irritating sound check cam’t effect me. There is frankly nothing I can do about what’s happening on stage. So why waste my energy getting upset.
